He was not aware of Lauren't close proximity until hearing his voice again and he glance back over his shoulder, glass in hand. It occurred to him only then that he'd risen as though ordered, though it didn't feel like that way at all.
After filling the glass with water, he turned and noted Laurent's cheeks were still flushed though he carried himself well.
'We'll call it a manner of courtship,' he said, his tone soft as he held the glass out to Laurent. 'You were in want of something and I'm happy to provide it.'
