Laurent glanced at Damen, but he would find no advice there, not because of any failings but because there was none. There was no good path here. All Laurent could do was to attempt to offer hope.
'You've been here a handful of days. Acclimation will come in time,' he said. 'You know what it is to survive, Nicaise - I am asking you to do it again. I will be a better friend to you this time.'
